Egyptian health, beauty services startup Glamera raises $250k

Glamera, a Cairo-based health and beauty services startup, has raised a $250 000 seed round from an unnamed Saudi angel investor.

The startup was founded earlier this year by Mohamed Hassan, Omar Fathy and Zafer Alsheri.

The startup’s mobile app — which was released in July — enables users to book and pay for appointments for health and beauty services from 200 partners that range from spas, beauty salons, gyms and cosmetic clinics.

Tech publication MenaBytes reported in an article yesterday that Glamera will use the funding to increase its partners to 1000, in addition to expanding its services in Cairo, Alexandria and two other governorates in the country as well as to Saudi Arabia.

In Cairo, the startup which employs 35 people, currently operates in districts that include Nasr City, Sheraton, Nozha and Heliopolis. It’s not clear how many registered users Glamera currently has.

Ventureburn sought comment from Glamera today on its user numbers and details on when the deal was concluded but had not received a response at the time of publication.
