The management of Ghacem, a cement-producing company in Ghana, has donated an amount of GHS500,000 to the government of Ghana to fight against the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
The donation was presented to the government by the Managing Director of Ghacem, Mr Stefano Gallini on behalf of the board at a press conference at the Ministry of Information on Friday April 3.
Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah thanked Ghacem for the gesture.
Mr Stefano Gallinini said during the donation that: “Ghacem is the leading cement manufacturing company in Ghana and we have been supporting the government for decades
“We are honoured and proud to respond to the national call from his Excellency the President in trying to support the fight against COVID-19 the country is facing.
“We are very humble to make this contribution, we thing it will be useful to support this critical situation for Ghana and the world. We present GHS500,000 to the government as our humble effort to fight the covid-19.”
At the same event, the Micro Finance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) also donated 48000 hand sanitizers to the frontline security officers as part of the fight against the coronavirus infection in Ghana.
Mr Stephen Amoah, CEO of the MASLOC, further said the centre is also assisting health workers with sanitizers as they deal with the COVID-19.
“MASCLOC will continue to support in the fight against the COVID-19,” he said.
At the same press conference, Plan Ghana, an NGO, also donated an amount of GHS50,000 to the government to deal with the COVID-19.
