Ghana’s Cyber Security Authority (CSA), in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service, National Security and the Ghana Immigration Service, has arrested 141 suspects in a coordinated operation targeting organised cybercrime networks involved in mobile money fraud and online scams.
The intelligence-led operation was carried out in the early hours of the morning across Tabora and Lashibi. According to the CSA, 100 suspects were arrested in Tabora, while 41 others were apprehended in Lashibi. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are believed to be Nigerian nationals.
Security operatives also seized 38 laptops and 150 mobile phones, which are suspected to have been used in cyber-enabled financial crimes. A Ghanaian landlord who reportedly accommodated 100 of the suspects has also been arrested, with authorities stressing that property owners have a responsibility to ensure their premises are not used for criminal activities.

The suspects are alleged to be involved in a range of cyber-related offences, including mobile money fraud, romance scams, sextortion, business email compromise (BEC) and wire fraud.
Forensic analysis of the seized electronic devices is currently underway, and those found culpable will be processed in accordance with Ghanaian law.

The Cyber Security Authority has urged the public to remain vigilant and to report suspicious digital activities, as the country intensifies efforts to combat cybercrime.
While reiterating that Ghana remains open to foreigners engaged in legitimate business, the authorities issued a strong warning that cybercriminal activity will be met with swift and decisive action under the law.
