In what started as just love for colours and helping friends to pick colours for their events, Mrs Matilda Sarpong has pushed that passion and made a business out of it. Matilda Sarpong is a teacher at the Ghana Armed Forces School in Takoradi and the CEO of Tilly’s Glamup GH. Tilly’s Glamup GH is a Millinery business which also deals with the wholesale and Retail of Makeup products and wedding planning.
Tilly’s Glamup was established on the 25th of August, 2015 at Obuasi in the Ashanti region of Ghana. The passion to start Tilly’s Glamup came from Matilda’s love for colours.
“I started drawing and working with colours (since infancy) because colours were pleasing to my eyes and I loved creating designs on my own”, she said. Matilda did Visual Arts at the Senior Secondary school.
Due to her diligence in colour selection, her friends would come to her for suggestions on outfits and selection of wedding colours.
After running Tilly’s Glamup as a makeup business only for a while, she introduced wholesale and retail of makeup products later in the same year. She then started working on brides and bridesmaids, selling ladies bag and jewellery.
In 12th September,2016 a friend convinced her to enroll in a Millinery class but she didn’t show any interest at first. Upon further persuasion, she decided to join the class. After almost a year, she graduated as a certified Milliner. Afterwards, she enrolled in numerous advanced master classes to better her skills.
Matilda Sarpong has glammed numerous brides, planned weddings, made over 1000 fascinators, hats and hatinators, bouquets for clients in and outside Ghana.
Matilda’s wish is for Tilly’s Glamup to become a Global brand with international contracts in the next five years..
Tilly’s Glamup has two branches, one in Obuasi and the other in Takoradi.
