Owiredua needs GHc55,000 for surgery. Urgent Help Needed

Forgive Owiredua is a 17 year old Senior High student in Ghana and she has been diagnosed with neurofibromatosis. She has been living with this condition for the past 14 years and it has affected her ability to see with her right eye.

Owiredua needs €8.000 (GHc55,000) to correct her deformity.

Neurofibromatosis is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to form on nerve tissue. These tumors can develop anywhere in your nervous system, including your brain, spinal cord and nerves. Neurofibromatosis is usually diagnosed in childhood or early adulthood.

The tumors are usually noncancerous (benign), but sometimes can become cancerous (malignant). Symptoms are often mild. However, complications of neurofibromatosis can include hearing loss, learning impairment, heart and blood vessel (cardiovascular) problems, loss of vision, and severe pain.

Owiredua was discovered by Galaxy Foundation, a non profit organisation which provides free health services to needy people who cannot afford the cost of plastic and general surgeries. The foundation corrects anomalies such as cleft lip and palate, synductyle, post burns contractures and other deformities for free. The organisation identifies these individuals and seeks support to raise funds for their surgeries.
