This week on the Wundef Show, Dvaid Ameyaw, the Co-Founder and Executive Director for HOLYSTIC Nutrition speaks on the role of his organisation in tackling malnutrition in Ghana.
In Ghana, close to one in every five children under 5 years is stunted while one in every ten children under 5 is underweight. Almost 2 in 3 children between six months and two years of age are not fed food that supports their rapidly growing bodies and brains. This puts them at risk of poor brain development, weak learning, low immunity, increased infections and, in many cases, death.
Ameyaw David is the Co-Founder and Executive Director for HOLYSTIC Nutrition. His organisation helps malnourished children to get good health free of charge. So far, over 180 children including those with acute malnutrition have been treated by his organisation. But how he started this organisation and is able to keep it running is something you must hear. “There were times we had to also rely on the food we gave to the malnourished children in order to survive”, he revealed.
