There Are 13 Black Billionaires Around the World, Checkout the List!

There are many billionaires around the globe. Sadly though, out of the 2,153 billionaires in the world, according to Forbes, only 13 of them are Black, which is 1 percent. Even worse, only three of them are Black women. Despite the low numbers, we celebrate them anyways and proudly embrace their success!

Here’s a list of the 13 Black billionaires in the world (Ladies first, of course):

1. Oprah Winfrey:

An American media executive, actress, talk show host, television producer and philanthropist. She is known as the founder of Harpo Productions which produces the Oprah Winfrey Show, Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) and O Magazine. She has a net worth of $2.7 billion USD.

2. Isabel Dos Santos:

An Angolan billionaire businesswoman, Africa’s richest woman and the eldest child of Angola’s former President José Eduardo dos Santos, who ruled the country from 1979 to 2017. She has major stakes in several Angola-based and Portugual-based companies, and her net worth is $2.2 billion USD.

3. Folorunsho Alakija:

A Nigerian billionaire businesswoman who is the founder of The Rose of Sharon Prints & Promotions and the executive vice-chairman of Famfa Oil Limited. She is involved in the fashion, oil, real estate and printing industries. She has a net worth of $1 billion USD.

4. Aliko Dangote:

A Nigerian tycoon who built his fortune in sugar, flour and cement. He also owns a private oil refinery in Nigeria that has the refining capacity of 6500,000 barrels a day and can reduce Nigeria’s dependence on oil imports. He is the world’s richest Black person with a net worth of $10.9 billion USD.

5. Patrice Motsepe:

A South African mining businessman and billionaire. He is the founder and executive chairman of African Rainbow Minerals, which has interests in gold, ferrous metals, base metals, and platinum. His net worth is $2.2 billion USD.

6. Mike Adenuga:

A Nigerian billionaire businessman, and the second-richest person in Africa. His company Globacom is Nigeria’s second-largest telecom operator, which has a presence in Ghana and Benin. His net worth is $8.7 billion USD.

7. Robert Smith:

An American billionaire businessman, and philanthropist. A former chemical engineer and investment banker, he is the founder, chairman, and CEO of private equity firm Vista Equity Partners. His net worth is $5 billion USD.

8. David Steward:

An American billionaire businessman. He is chairman and founder of World Wide Technology, Inc., the largest Black-owned businesses in the United States. His net worth is $3.9 billion USD.

9. Strive Masiyiwa:

A London-based Zimbabwean billionaire businessman, and philanthropist. He is the founder and executive chairman of the telecommunications, media and technology company Econet Wireless. His net worth is $2.7 billion USD.

10. Michael Jordan:

The NBA’s greatest player of all time, who is now the owner of the Charlotte Bobcats team and the owner of the Air Jordan sneaker brand. a member of Forbes’ list of billionaires with an estimated net worth of $1.65 billion USD.

11. Michael Lee-Chin:

A Canadian of Jamaican origin who made his fortune investing in financial companies. He also owns a 65% stake in National Commercial Bank Jamaica, and his net worth is $1.9 billion USD.

12. Abdulsamad Rabiu:

The Nigerian founder of BUA Group, a conglomerate with interests in sugar refining, cement production, real estate, steel, port concessions, manufacturing, oil gas and shipping. His net worth is $1.6 billion USD.

13. Mo Ibrahim:

A Sudanese-born entrepreneur who founded Celtel International, one of the first mobile phone companies serving Africa and the Middle East. He later sold the company for $3.4 billion, but his net worth is $1.1 billion USD.
