Who is a leader?

I can say, this is one of the most asked question in every situation across the world.

Are people born leaders or some become leaders by chance and oh, do people also become leaders just by appointments?

As simply defined by Webster dictionary a leader is a person who leads. That is to guide or to direct.

Well, going through tons of other articles, videos and listening to some leadership experts give presentations on leadership, I’d want to share Steven Pilkington’s definition of leadership and John C Maxwell ‘s thoughts which I think sums everything up.

Pilkington said “ leadership is about having a clear vision based on values and beliefs. Leaders must have conviction, drive and commitment to empower others to work towards the achievement of the vision.

Leaders must have self-reliance to persevere with resilience and tenacity to withstand setbacks, disappointments and failure and to lift and carry their people through disappointments to progress on towards success”.

Also, John C Maxwell one of the best selling authors on Leadership has these to say; “a leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.

People never care how much you know until they know how much you care.

And Leaders must be close enough to relate to others, but far enough ahead to motivate them”.

Do you or do you not agree with the above?

Let’s get talking in the comments section.

The Artistic Mind of a Criminal

I used to have a client who is a professor when it comes to art, paintings and antiques. He paints one portrait and makes millions out of it and that really fascinated me so much that I started doing some research into the Art, paintings and antiques industry. I discovered that the painting industry in Ghana is very small and young but elsewhere in the world, it is a huge industry which contributes significantly to the economy of these countries. The USA economy in 2014 and 2015 benefited US$730 billion and US$763.6 billion respectively from the Art, Paintings and Antiques sector(1). US$12 billion (£9.2 billion) was contributed to the UK GDP in 2016 from the Art and Painting sector(2) with Singapore’s Art and Painting contributing S$2.13 billion to the GDP in 2013(3).
