The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), engaged with the Prestige Group of Companies to explore a groundbreaking partnership aimed at equipping Ghanaian youth with 21st-century digital skills.
The core focus of the meeting was the ONE MILLION CODERS program, a national initiative championed by the Prestige Group to empower emerging talent in the country through comprehensive digital education and skill development. The Minister expressed enthusiasm about the potential of the initiative to support Ghana’s digitalization agenda and create a robust digital workforce.
A Structured Pathway to Digital Empowerment
During the engagement, Prestige Group outlined a detailed, three-level training structure designed to cater to learners from all backgrounds and skill levels:
Basic Digital Literacy (3 Months): This entry-level phase will introduce participants to essential digital tools, computer literacy, and internet navigation, laying the foundation for more technical learning. Intermediate IT Training (6 Months): Building on the basics, this phase will focus on web development, digital design, and other key areas, allowing participants to gain hands-on experience in modern tech environments. Advanced Specialization (12 Months): The final phase is designed for in-depth learning through capstone projects, research, and globally recognized certifications. Areas of specialization include data science, software engineering, and cybersecurity, preparing graduates for competitive roles in the global digital economy.
Strong Institutional Partnerships
To ensure global relevance and high-quality content, Prestige Group has secured partnerships with leading academic and industry institutions. These include local universities such as Valley View University and GIMPA, as well as global tech education giants like Coursera, Microsoft Learn, and the Cisco Networking Academy.
Coursera will provide online access to thousands of university-level courses and certifications. Microsoft Learn will offer industry-standard training in Microsoft technologies, including Azure and Power Platform. Cisco Networking Academy will facilitate globally recognized certifications in networking, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure.
The proposed collaboration is expected to be a transformative step toward Ghana’s ambition of becoming a digital hub in Africa. With a structured approach and strong institutional backing, the ONE MILLION CODERS program has the potential to uplift communities, reduce unemployment, and position Ghana as a leader in digital innovation on the continent.
