Hon. Samuel Nartey George, Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, has expressed strong interest in partnering with a rising local tech talent, Malfred Kwame Kudu, following a high-level meeting.
Malfred, a self-taught device repair expert, has recently gained international recognition for his remarkable skills in smartphone repair and modification. His standout moment came at the recent Global AI Summit, where he wowed audiences by demonstrating how he converts iPhones to accept global SIM cards — a rare and advanced feat in mobile technology repair.
The Minister praised Malfred’s ingenuity and highlighted his story as an inspiration to young people across the country.

From YouTube Tutorials to Global Recognition
Malfred’s journey began at Kumasi Secondary Technical School, where he studied applied electricals. Motivated by curiosity and a desire to solve problems, he started fixing devices for his teachers — learning everything through YouTube tutorials and online courses.
A Vision for Local Training and Job Creation
The Ministry is now exploring a potential partnership with Malfred to develop a nationwide training program focused on device repair and management. This initiative aims to equip Ghanaians with hands-on skills, address the growing issue of faulty phone imports, and boost employment among the youth.
The move aligns with the Ministry’s broader goal of promoting digitalization and innovation across the country, making technology accessible, practical, and transformative for everyday Ghanaians.
