The Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) has elected Natural Resource Governance Analyst and Community Activist Mr. Richard Ellimah as its new Chair. He will serve a one-year term from November 2025 to November 2026.
Mr. Ellimah, who represents Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) on the Committee, was elected during PIAC’s Accountability Committee meeting held on Wednesday, 12th November 2025. He takes over from Constantine K. M. Kudzedzi, Esq.
In his remarks after the election, Mr. Ellimah thanked members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to advance PIAC’s mandate of promoting transparency and accountability in the management of Ghana’s petroleum revenues. He also highlighted his commitment to building on the strong foundation laid by his predecessors.

Mr. Ellimah brings nearly two decades of civil society experience in natural resource governance, development planning, and community advocacy.
At the same meeting, Dr. Edward Yaw Afriyie, a Biomedical Scientist representing the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI), was elected Vice Chairperson for a one-year term. He takes over from Odeefuo Amoakwa Boadu VIII.
Ahead of the election, on Tuesday, 11th November 2025, five new PIAC members were sworn in by Mr. Samuel Arkhurst, Coordinating Director, Technical, at the Ministry of Finance, on behalf of the Minister. The newly sworn-in members represent:
- Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI) – Mr. Christopher Opoku Nyarko
- Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG) – Ms. Sena Dake
- Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) – Mr. Zamboanga Rufai Saminu
- Ghana Bar Association (GBA) – Ms. Veronica Adigbo
- National House of Chiefs – Nana Soglo Alloh IV
PIAC reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency and public accountability in the use of petroleum revenues, in line with its mandate under the Petroleum Revenue Management Act (PRMA) 2011.
