Ghana’s Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, on Friday received a three-member delegation from the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation in information and communication technology (ICT).
The delegation, led by KISDI Executive Director Joon Ho Hwang, is in Ghana to undertake a feasibility study on potential ICT Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects scheduled for 2027.
Welcoming the team, George expressed appreciation for South Korea’s continued support and underscored opportunities for collaboration, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI) integration across key sectors including agriculture, healthcare and education.
He stressed the importance of deploying AI-driven solutions to improve agricultural productivity and enhance value addition within Ghana’s economy, calling for deeper technical cooperation between the two countries.
Hwang thanked the minister for the reception and reaffirmed KISDI’s commitment to identifying practical solutions aligned with Ghana’s digital transformation agenda.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both institutions, including Sung Hoon, Associate Researcher at KISDI; Sung Gyu Kim, Professor at Korea University; Alexander Yaw Aphul, Chief Director of the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations; and Dr Samuel Antwi-Gyekyi, Director for Digital Technology.
The visit reflects Ghana’s broader push to expand digital infrastructure and leverage emerging technologies to drive economic growth.
